9th Annual IMA Conference Chhattisgarh State, Bilaspur, Jan 2014 hosted by IMA Bilaspur Branch at
Bilaspur the Judicial & Cultural capital of Chhattisgarh on 19th January 2014.
Theme of conference was “Non Communicable Diseases- Emerging Trends and Threats”.
Prof. (Dr.) Nitin M Nagarkar, Director of AIIMS, Raipur Felicitated with Dr M L Rathi Oration.
He delivered a talk on “Non Communicable Diseases- Emerging Trends and Threats”.

State level CME on gynaecological oncology organised by the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, AIIMS Raipur
under the Association of Gynecological Oncologists of India(AGOI) at AIIMS Raipur on 20.10.2013. It was blessed with the
presence of around 125 delegates from Raipur, Durg, Bhilai, Raigarh, Dhamtari, Bilaspur and Jagdalpur.
It was inaugurated by Prof. G.B Gupta, vice chancellor of Ayush and Health University, Raipur as chief guest and Prof. Nitin M Nagarkar,
Director of AIIMS,Raipur and Dr. Uma Devi president AGOI as guest of honour. Professor Nagarkar highlighted on the urgent
need of early diagnosis and proper management of female genital cancers especially in Chhattisgarh and he gave assurance to support
such educational activities, in AIIMS.
Prof.Uma Devi, who is a gynaec oncosurgeon in Kidwai Memorial Cancer institute, Bangalore and the president of AGOI
spoke on various surgical procedures available for ovarian cancer. Prof. S K Giri, who is the director of RCC, Cuttack
discussed how to manage the complicated female genital cancers and he made the panel discussion very lively where he
moderated a session based on clinical case scenarios. Dr Ramesh Parimi,a renouned oncosurgeon made the event interesting
by showing some surgical videos. Dr Pranay Taori and Dr Ashis Kumar told about the role of radiotherapy and chemotherapy
in the management of female genital malignancies. Dr Bhagyalaxmi Nayak discussed about the radical surgery of cervical cancer
and demonstrated the steps of surgery through video. Prof. Sarita Agrawal spoke about the importance of HPV vaccine in
preventing cancer cervix. Dr Asha Jain discussed about the screening modalities of cancer cervix.

There will be an exhibition of the models/charts made by the MBBS students of 2012 batch.Moreover a slogan writing competition has been proposed on the theme of World Health Day- "High Blood Pressure". The programme shall culminate with prize distribution for the best entries.

An important highlight of the 2 day event was the hands on techniques (Relaxation
techniques & SMET Techniques) taught by Dr Mrithunjay Rathore to the delegates.
Moreover the event was marked by Stress management lectures taken up by Dr. Mrithunjay
Rathore, Dr. Anjan Kumar Giri, Dr. Sonia Parial (Guest Speaker) & Gender sensitization
lectures taken by Dr. Anu Nagarkar (Guest Speaker), Dr. Basant Manjari Naik and
Dr. Ekta Khandelwal.
An interactive panel discussion was organized . Panel members was Dr Meenakshi Sinha,
Dr Eli Mohapatra, Dr Abhiruchi Galhotra and the discussion was moderated by Dr Tejprakash
Sinha.

the students of MBBS Batch 2012-2013 to PHC Murmunda,Durg as a part of their orientation
towards the health care infrastructure
The objective of the visit were:
- To have an exposure to health care delivery system of India in rural areas
- To have idea regarding staffing pattern of a PHC.
- To acquire knowledge regarding services available in a primary health care center
